People usually expect from night city photography a colour effect: lights of different colours interferencing with each other and the best on sunset or dark blue sky.
Here we observe a totally different approach, focusing not on the "colours of the night", but on the structure of architecture located next to the water (sea, lake, river).
While the photo from the first sight might just not be very original - you may find a lot of similar ones even on dA using colorless square-cropped approach to night cityscapes - the main advantages of the photo are: - great tonality including all transitions between total black to almost ideal white - contrast between sharp lines of the buildings on the top and their delicate smudged reflection on the water.
Concluding: wonderful black & white technique and great sense of composition.
